Salem College Faculty; Continuing a Legacy of Excellence
Issue date: 9/11/07 Section: News
This year Salem College is proud to welcome five new full time professors, over fifteen adjunct professors and several new academic support members to the Salem Community.
Ms. Sydney Davis, Salem's new assistant in the office of academic support and this year's director of the writing center, has big plans for her time at Salem. Davis proclaimed her future goals stating, "I would love for the Writing Center to be a place where students can come and learn any and everything about composition in all of its forms. I want the tutors, along with myself, to be informed of changes in writing and theories of writing so we can constantly give that knowledge to the students and faculty."
Davis has also been pleasantly surprised by the open atmosphere and welcoming attitudes shown by Salem students and staff. She also related her favorite aspect of Salem exclaiming, "I've only been at Salem a little over a week, but I'd have to say my favorite part of Salem is the friendliness of everyone (students and staff). I was expecting to feel like part of the college around month two, but everyone has made me feel like this is my school!"
Another addition to the Salem family is Professor Aaron Bowman, an adjunct faculty member from Winston-Salem who is currently teaching full-time at Surry Community College in Dobson, NC. Bowman received his undergraduate degree in history and anthropology from Wake Forest University and is currently teaching several night courses in sociology at Salem.
Davis, Professor Bowman and the entire new Salem faculty are exciting additions to the Salem community and maintain the standard of excellence for which Salem College Faculty is renowned.
